“Fatherhood is leadership, the most important kind of leadership. It has always been so; it always will be so. Father, with the assistance and counsel and encouragement of your eternal companion, you preside in the home. It is not a matter of whether you are most worthy or best qualified, but it is a matter of [divine] appointment.”
Fatherhood is a special calling that entails challenging responsibilities. I am not a father myself, yet I have seen the footprints and good examples of my dad. He showed our family that fathers are not perfect --yet they strive to be one.
Father's day is always special for me because this is the time wherein I could express my love and gratitude to my dad. When I was in primary I love singing (although I'm not really good at it) for this wonderful occasion. I appreciate every little thing that my dad did for me especially all his sacrifices and hard work. We may not have too much worldly possessions but I am still grateful that God gave me a father like my dad.
I do not need a perfect father, I need someone who understands and appreciates my abilities and talents; someone who forgives me for my shortcomings and weaknesses; someone who motivates me to do well not only in school but in my everyday activities; someone who values our family and is faithful to my mother and someone who is not afraid to admit his mistakes and tells his children to learn from the wrong did he made. I do not need a father who is rich with worldly possession but lacks faith and testimony in God.
I do not need any other father.
I am contented and happy with what God gave me and I am proud to be my daddy's daughter.
Father's day is near approaching and the primary organization of our ward had prepared a simple presentation in recognition for this special day. The Novaliches 1st ward primary will be singing the songs "Fathers" and "My Dad".
"Fathers"
The father of our home leads our family
With wisdom's light in all that's right, my father's good to me
**Fathers are so special with a very special love
They watch us and protect us
They guide us and direct us back to our home above
The father of our ward tends with loving care
Each member's needs with kindly deeds, our bishop's always there
(Repeat **)
And now we'll sing great praise and rev'rently recall
The Holy One who gave His son, The Father of us all
(Repeat **)

"My Dad"
My daddy is my fav'rite pal, and I help him everyday.
It's plain to see I want to be like him in every way.
He teaches me that honesty is best in all I do.
I'm very glad that he's my day,
And I know he loves me too.

The children will also give simple tokens to all the fathers in our ward as well as to our ward visitors (it is also our ward conference) who happens to be daddies already. We don't have extra budget on this though, so we decided to buy small keychains and wrote "happy father's day!" on one side and a characteristic of a good father on the other side. I think it looks good and I hope the daddies will like and appreciate them. I also took snapshots of all the daddies in our ward and created a simple AVP (audio-visual presentation) for them.
Positive vibes for father's day :-)
